What the kitchen means to me:

One of my earliest memories is in my grandma’s kitchen. Since I was a child, the kitchen has been a place where my families’ traditions and recipes have been passed on to the younger generation. It’s with this feeling in mind that I approach kitchen designs – it’s not just about the style but creating a space for others to create their own memories and joy. While designing your dream kitchen, may require more work than most spaces, it is worth the effort to make it your own. I love a kitchen that feels easy to use, is cost-efficient and makes your bank account happy, which are our main priorities at Westwood Elements.

A little more about Ally:

I was born and raised in Kelowna. I come from three generations of contractors and I’m extremely grateful for the knowledge I have developed over the years from growing up around the environment. Naturally, I eventually joined my father’s custom home building business and gained valuable onsite experience. I decided to bring this experience to the Elements line and am so excited for all the new and exciting things to come.

What the kitchen means to me:

The kitchen, for me, is the heart and soul of a home and should be a balance of function and beauty.  I cook a lot, so a functional and efficient workspace is important. At the same time, it is where friends and family gather so the space needs to feel warm and inviting. My personal style leans towards the clean lines of Nordic minimalist with accents of natural materials.

A little more about Liana:

My interest in design started back in high school as an art student, which morphed into interior design when I became a homeowner and was frustrated with poor design and inefficient kitchen and bath layouts. With an honours diploma in Business Management from BCIT, I worked in the Human Resources field for over 15 years as my day job but continued to renovate homes in my spare time. After more than 20 years of designing and renovating for fun, I decided to make it my day job and worked at IKEA as a Kitchen Planner and Team Lead. When my husband and I moved to the Okanagan two years ago, I continued with IKEA kitchen designing before I joined the Westwood Elements team in 2022. I’m excited to be a part of the growing Elements line! In my spare time, you will find me spending time with my family, baking and still renovating!

What the kitchen means to me:

The kitchen is the intersection of family’s lives. With busy schedules, family dinners are becoming far less common, so it’s important to have a kitchen that goes beyond the traditional focus. A kitchen has always and will always be the focal point of the home. From baking with mom, to sleepover breakfasts, to cooking a meal to welcome new extensions of the family, the memories grow over time. Whether the room is a facility for preparing gourmet meals or just the basics, it is nice to create a comfortable setting that you enjoy and can be proud of.

A little more about Mark:

While I first set off to university to pursue my interest in the natural sciences, I ended up becoming a purchasing specialist, working for manufacturing companies.  I have worked in the toy business, health food manufacturing, the automotive industry, and now for many years, the cabinet business.

While in the kitchen industry, I’ve gained wide knowledge of the raw materials and hardware and the manufacturing processes used to create today’s state of the art cabinetry.

Recently, I jumped at the chance to rejoin Westwood in the Elements division, where we offer excellent quality and value for money. I appreciate the fact Westwood is a family-owned company, run by a very experienced management team.
