Designer Q&A: What to Expect at Your First Consultation

Designer Q&A: What to Expect at Your First Consultation

Starting a kitchen or bathroom renovation—or planning a new build—can feel both exciting and overwhelming. At Westwood Cabinetry, we know the first consultation is a big step, and our goal is to make it informative, reassuring, and tailored to your unique vision.

To help you feel prepared, we asked one of our experienced designers to answer the most common questions homeowners have before their first consultation.

Renovating a kitchen or bathroom, or planning a new build is exciting, but it can also feel intimidating. At Westwood Cabinetry, we make your first consultation simple and stress-free. Our designers guide you every step of the way, helping you explore options, understand budgets, and visualize your dream space before making any decisions.

Q1: What should I bring?
Bring floor plans (if you have them), inspiration photos, or ideas about colors and finishes. Don’t have specifics? No problem—our designers guide you using samples, showrooms, and inspiration galleries.

Q2: Will we discuss budget and timeline?
Yes! We provide rough budget ranges based on cabinetry lines—Essentials, Elements, Elite, or Custom—and outline typical timelines, tailored to your goals.

Q3: How involved am I in the design process?
You’re in the driver’s seat. Unlimited revisions are included before your contract so you can explore layouts, cabinetry lines, appliances, countertops, and finishes until it feels perfect.

Q4: Do I need to make decisions immediately?
Not yet. The first consultation is about exploring options, understanding your vision, and seeing how different choices affect layout, function, and budget.

Q5: What deliverables will I receive?
You’ll often get preliminary 3D renderings and floor plans to help you visualize your space before any materials are ordered.

Q6: When do I make a payment or deposit?
A 50% deposit starts production after the contract is finalized. The remainder is due 48 hours before delivery. Your designer will guide you step by step.

Q7: How long does a consultation take?
Typically 60–90 minutes—enough time to review your space, explore options, and answer all your questions.

Q8: What if I have more questions afterward?
Your designer is your single point of contact and will follow up with additional answers, visuals, and guidance toward your next steps.

Your dream kitchen or bathroom is closer than you think. With Westwood Cabinetry, your first consultation is the perfect opportunity to explore ideas, see your space in 3D, and feel confident in every decision.
